Term 3 Swimming Lessons

Underwater baby

As we DIVE INTO Term 3 at Flinders Aquatic Academy, we hope you and your family had a lovely and relaxing break over the school holidays.

It was great to see so many students, taking advantage of our July School Holiday Group Lessons, Private Lessons, and Squad Training Intensives. Our teachers and coaches, also did a fantastic job to keep the learning fun and engaging.

As Leaders of Aquatic Education within the Sunshine Coach, our philosophy at Flinders Aquatic Academy is based around developing great swimming technique, while providing a fun learning environment for all ages.

We are always excited to see new faces and familiar friends as we start back in Term 3, on the 16th of July, 2018.

Squad Coaching Updates:

Great news – Coach Rod is back!

Rod is back from his “Great Australian Caravan Trip” and he already has been seen back on deck coaching the young athletes and students, over the last week in the 25m Pool. We know many students are excited about swimming with Rod again.

Thank you Coach Damian!

We would like to thank Coach Damian for coaching the Flinders Aquatic Academy Squads in Rod’s absence. He did a fabulous job during his time with us and supported the competitive junior Spartans at local swimming meets. We really appreciate the service Damian provided throughout this time, and we will miss not seeing him on deck coaching at Flinders Aquatic Academy.

Welcome Coach Cameron.

We would also like to take this opportunity to welcome Cameron Roberts to the Flinders Aquatic Academy family. Cameron is joining the team, starting Monday, July 16th 2018, and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in the aquatics education and coaching industry. He has run his own successful Multi-Award Winning swim school in Newcastle, NSW, and has previously coached over 130 State Age Medalists during a 7 year head coaching career. Cameron’s coaching style is very skill based, and he is looking forward to assisting Rod with the squads in the 25m Pool.

Make-Up Policy Update:

Parents, can you please make a note of our new Make-Up Policy. This has been put in place to help streamline lesson bookings and give our students an opportunity to book in for the lessons they miss when they are away.

Please let us know when you are going to be away by calling the swim school on 0448 482 444, or seeing us in person on the week before during your normal lesson, to advise us of when you are going to be away – (whether you are requesting to do a make-up or not) because it will let us know where we may be able to offer a make-up lesson to someone else.

The new policy means you will now have a maximum of 2 make-up lessons per term, per child. But please note, that make-up lessons are only available if you advise us before your lesson that you are going to be away. Make-up lessons also do not carry over from one term to the next.

In the event of extended illness, please provide a Doctor’s Certificate and we will assess if we can accommodate you to the best of our ability. Extended illness refers to an absence greater than 2 weeks (continuous) which cannot be covered by make-up lessons.

For PRIVATE LESSON make-ups… You are entitled to 2 make-up lessons per term, per child with your private lessons. Private Lesson make-ups will now incur a “$12.50 holding fee” to hold your private lesson time and spot in the event of cancelling your lesson.

This new policy does not apply to SQUADS in the outdoor pool (Penguin Outdoors, Improvers and Dolphins). Squad swimmers are able to choose from another time slot from the timetable during the week and select your own make-up sessions.
